For example, in some languages, certain occupations or positions of power may be referred to only by masculine terms, reflecting the unequal representation of women in those fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, language can also be used as a tool for subverting and challenging traditional gender norms. For example, some individuals may use non-binary pronouns or gender-neutral language to assert their non-binary identity.
